Where it Started

cropped-tbone.jpgI’ve been playing trombone since I was 7.  I started playing with a Salvation Army band in Hamilton, ON. A 3rd generation trombone player (more about that later) I got my first trombone of my own when I was about 13.

I played tenor trombone until I  was about 18 and then switched to Bass Trombone. There’s a story there too.

Somehow, over the years, I’ve managed to accumulate a largish collection of vintage trombones. Two I got new. The rest were old when I got them. A couple of them are well over 100 years old.

This blog will explore the history of my collection, from my first Yamaha tenor, to my King 8b, through my Olds, Boosey & Hawkes, and all my other horns. I love all of them, and think they are all beautiful.

I hope you enjoy the journey!
